A delivery to die for.
Synopsis
Earth - more than a hundred years from now.
A virus known as the Red Flu is ravaging Western Base taking young and old lives.
Crew chief Jarsil, in her late 30's, and sand ferry commander Roma, in his late 40's, have lived and worked their whole lives transporting cargo and people across the desert. Jarsil dreams of running her own ferry, while Roma's retiring once they cross the Great Salt Flats and get home.
But Roma is assigned one last delivery, and it's top secret. A favour is being called in by an old friend, and he has no choice but to accept. Jarsil, who planned to spend time with her unruly daughter Elly, is tempted by the big money offered and joins Roma on a final mission causing a major rift between her, Elly and Jarsil’s mother.
But everything goes wrong on what should be a routine trip. Not only are they unaware of the Red Flu, but also the fact that a lot of people want to get their hands on the cargo.
An unprecedented magnetic field ‘backflip’ of the sun causes severe storms across the globe and when they’re over Roma and Jarsil find themselves without navigation and short of supplies. Jarsil also discovers that her daughter Elly is now seriously ill with the Red Flu.
An old friend of Roma has engineered a ruthless scheme to steal the cargo, which is now revealed to be the first batch of a possible cure for the Red Flu.
The race is on. Roma and Jarsil must defy the unforgiving desert, merciless traitors and the ultimate test of loyalty:
If you had to choose between thousands of lives and your own daughter - who would you pick to live?
Backflip is set on Earth in a hundred or more years time.
In a post-oil, post-global warming world our story unfolds in the vast desert and the small cities on each side.
Backflip is a science fiction thriller/drama with a strong emotional punch.
